🌿 The first tree receives the nurturing touch of restoration 🌿
Recently, we had the incredible opportunity to gather at Asitu’lɨsk for a momentous occasion – the initial tree was embraced with medicine and care, marking the beginning of healing our beloved Hemlock stands. It was a day filled with learning, healing, and a deep sense of purpose as we embarked on this important mission.
Elder Jane Meader, along with Carola Knockwood and Naomi Berrard, joined us in the forest to lead a sacred ceremony at the very location where our journey began. Their presence brought a profound sense of connection and reassurance as we prepared to administer the much-needed medicine to our Hemlock trees.
🌱✨During the ceremony, Elder Jane shared her wisdom and belief that the Hemlock trees recognize our intentions and are grateful for the help we are providing. She assured us that the medicine we are offering will indeed make a difference, allowing the trees to continue growing strong.
To honor this sacred process, we followed Elder Jane’s guidance to smudge ourselves, our equipment, and the trees, infusing our actions with prayer and intention.
Carola beautifully expressed that the trees had been longing to hear our songs, which hold a deep spiritual significance. Elder Jane kindly suggested that even a recorded song would be meaningful, as it carries the essence of our intentions and love for the forest. With the melody resonating through the trees, we created a harmonious atmosphere that uplifted both our spirits and those of the Hemlocks.
The privilege of spending time with Elder Jane, Carola, and Naomi in the forest was truly extraordinary. Their presence and teachings nurtured our connection with nature and strengthened our resolve to protect and heal these sacred Hemlock forests.
In the wake of this profound experience, we feel compelled to share this message with you all but especially with the forest families who have been part of this forest for generations. We want them to find solace in knowing that the trees’ well-being is at the forefront of our efforts. The trees have embraced the medicine we have provided, and their resilience is amplified by our collective intentions.
As we move forward on this critical journey, we carry the teachings and blessings received during our transformative work in our hearts. The path ahead may still be challenging, but we are filled with hope and determination. With each tree we treat, we bring healing and preservation to our precious Hemlock stands.
