As part of our ongoing efforts to combat the devastating impact of Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) on our precious Eastern Hemlock forest, we are thrilled to announce our upcoming Hemlock Treatment Weeks. These weeks we will gather and as a group, perform ceremony and medicine on the first group of trees.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us to protect and preserve the precious hemlock forests at Asitu’lisk. Please take a moment to fill out this form and indicate your preferred role as a volunteer. Your contribution will make a significant difference in combating the threat of Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (HWA) and safeguarding this ancient forest for generations to come.

🌲 What to Expect: During each treatment week, there are diverse roles for volunteers to engage in this vital conservation effort.

  • Flaggers will identify Hemlock trees, flag them, and measure them for the required dosage, making tree identification skills essential.
  • Volunteer team members, on the other hand, will be drilling for the treatment, placing the cartridges, and collecting them to return to the group leader—no specific expertise required; anyone can join in.
  • Base Volunteer is a perfect fit for those who prefer no direct contact with the treatments. Volunteers in this role will support operations by hauling water, preparing meals, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the project.

With opportunities for various involvement levels, this week presents a chance for everyone to play a critical role in safeguarding the magnificent Hemlock forest. Don’t worry about tools; we’ve got you covered. Your safety and comfort are of utmost importance, and we ensure that you have all necessary equipment and guidance.

🏡 Accommodations and Amenities: If you need a place to stay, we offer cozy lodgings for your convenience. Choose between our comfortable farmhouse and lodge, complete with power, linens, Wi-Fi, and fully-equipped kitchens, or experience rustic charm in our off-grid cabins featuring limited solar power, propane stoves for cooking, and wood stoves for warmth.

🌿 Embrace the Journey: Your participation goes beyond saving trees; it’s about being part of a remarkable team effort, making a difference in the lives of these ancient giants. Join us, and together, we’ll leave a legacy of conservation and harmony with nature.
