Giving at Asitu'lisk
It has long been our dream to see Indigenous youth learning from the land under the same hemlocks their ancestors did long ago.
We have multi-year plans for Asitu’lɨsk, including an observatory that connects people with the star stories, a performance and gathering space for the arts, and dedicated ceremony areas where community can reconnect with the land. These visions guide our work to grow Asitu’lɨsk into a space that welcomes teaching, culture, and community for generations to come.
Asitu’lɨsk stands as a beacon of hope, and caring for it is a large responsibility. Recent upgrades such as installing safety equipment, improving Wi-Fi, and purchasing landscape equipment have placed pressure on our resources. There is still much more to do. Infrastructure and accessibility upgrades to our sustainably built conference centre, along with ongoing maintenance to roofs, heating systems, trails, and water infrastructure, are significant costs needed to support this space.
With your donation, we can continue strengthening the foundation of Asitu’lɨsk, protect the hemlocks that have stood here for centuries, and see our shared dreams for this space into the future.
Let's Heal the Hemlocks
When the invasive hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) was discovered in the forest, we began a multi-year inoculation process to protect the trees that have sheltered generations. Our final treatment in this cycle is now complete, and over the next five years we will be watching closely to see how the forest heals. Another round of treatment will be needed at that time, and ongoing support is essential to prepare for that work.
